Alsayed Al-Qusayr, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, affirmed that within the framework
of harmony and the cooperation between state agencies in their professional handling of the crisis of
the giant Panamanian vessel “Evergiven”, which is stuck in the shipping course of the Suez Canal
As a result of the presence of 5 ships on which livestock shipments coming from Romania and Spain to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Jourdan are stuck, the coordination with General Osama Rabie, the chairman of the Suez Canal Authority, three veterinary teams were sent from the Veterinary Services Authority at the Ministry of Agriculture to the shipping course where doctors were moved and transferred to the ships’ sites. The veterinary teams were examined the health status of the animals on board of the five ships, with a total number of heads of 60,400 sheep and 421 heads of .cows.

The Minister of Agriculture said that the general health condition of the animals for the five ships
are all good, and there is no any signs of epidemic or infectious diseases. The availability of water,
veterinary medicines and feed has been ensured in appropriate quantities and that the feed
suppliers have coordinated with the vessels to supply the ships with the daily needs until the
navigation returns normally and the National Authority for Veterinary Health and Food Safety in
Romania was addressed with the measures that have been taken against the suspended shipments
of animals to ensure their safety.
There is also continuous follow-up with the officials of the Suez Canal Authority and the captain of
each ship to constantly check on the health of the animals and provide all their needs of medicines
and feed, as the ships were supplied with 190 tons of feed and 120 tons of water.
The Minister of Agriculture thanked the Veterinary Services Authority for its quick interaction with
this issue and their professionalism that deserved praise from all countries and international
